1. GENERAL INFORMATION
Bookings can be made via our web Reservation page, by phone or by fax, by email or directly at our
PLAISIR location.
Reservations can be made for a 2 and 3 day weekend and whole week periods. Special rental periods can
be arranged for holidays. One-day rentals are made on an availability basis only, and cannot be reserved
more than 48 hours in advance.
2. DRIVERS AND VEHICLES
You may specify up to two drivers when making a booking. The minimum rental age is 30 years with no accidents,
or drunk-driving convictions recorded in the last two years. Drivers must have held their license for at least 10 years.
We will do our best to offer you the car type specified when you made your booking. From time to time,
for operational reasons, it may be necessary to provide you with an alternative car type. We regret that it
is not possible to always guarantee a specific model or color.
3. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR VEHICLE RENTAL
In order to collect your car you MUST bring with you the following:
| | Valid, original driver's license for ALL NAMED drivers
Photocopies, faxes or letters will not be accepted. All drivers' licenses must be for manual transmission cars.
UK drivers: photo card license must be accompanied by the paper counterpart (we do not call the DVLA to
confirm the status of a license) |
| | Secondary form of identification:
France and Spain: valid national ID or passport AND proof of address
UK/CH/NL: EITHER valid national ID or passport. Non-EU customers must present a valid passport.
Accepted proof of address: : either an original bank statement or utility bill (excluding mobile phone bills) of no
more than three months old that confirms your name and address as supplied to us when you made your booking. |
| | The credit/debit card specified at the time of booking to meet the cost of supplementary charges
This must be the original card (not a copy). The person who paid for the booking on their credit card MUST
present a valid ID or passport, MUST be a driver listed on the rental agreement, and be present when the car is
collected. If the person who paid for the booking on their credit card is not present at time of car pick up then
no car will be allocated. |
We CANNOT allocate a car to you without these documents or when we are unable to collect the security deposit from
your card and we will NOT provide you with a refund in such cases.
4. VEHICLE CHECK-OUT & RETURN
Our rental period starts at 9:30 am the day of departure. The vehicle must be returned to our RetroRoadster
Plaisir location between 9:00 - 9:30 am or if you prefer the evening of the last full rental day before 19:00 o'clock.
Depending on availability, you can also pick up your vehicle between 18:00 and 19:00 o'clock the evening before your
departure. Please be sure to have our agreement before scheduling an evening pick-up.
Our clients with accommodations in Paris or in the vicinity of Plaisir who would like to have the vehicle delivered
to them, can contact us to arrange for the vehicle delivery and pick-up at their place of residence.
The vehicle delivery service will be charged separately of the rental service.
4.1 Vehicle Pick-Up
The vehicles are to be picked up at the RetroRoadster Plaisir agency, Ferme des Ebisoires,
local 49, rue Paul Langevin 78370 Plaisir France, (excepting of a written agreement indicating delivery at another address).
The same condition is applicable to the return of the vehicle. All costs incurred by RetroRoadster to recover a vehicle left
anywhere else without our written consent, will be billed to the primary driver on the rental contract.
4.2 Refueling
RetroRoadster provides you with a full fuel tank at rental check-out. Please return it in the same condition.
4.3 Unlimited mileage allowance
RetroRoadster rents the vehicles with an unlimited mileage allowance. You are free to accommodate your travel plans without any mileage restrictions.
4.4 Vehicle Return
The rental period is concluded when the vehicle, the keys, documents and all accessories have been returned.
Until that moment, the client is responsible for all rental fees. At the vehicle reception, a RetroRoadster team member
will ask for the following elements:

The keys to the vehicle. The vehicle is not considered returned as long as the correct set of keys has not been returned. |

A report of any vehicle problems (malfunctions, damages, observations…) |

The completed accident report, should the vehicle have been involved in one |
| |
The vehicle documents (registration, insurance certificate, owner's manual) |
| |
Any accessories included with the vehicle |
The vehicle must be returned during business hours, at the time indicated on the contract, or if necessary for practical
reasons, the evening before, before 19:00.
If the vehicle is returned outside of the agency open hours, the client continues to assume the entire rental responsibility
for the vehicle until the agency is open and the vehicle inspection can be performed, at which time the rental contract will end.
During this time he continues to be responsible for any damages, losses or theft of the vehicle.
Without expressed authorization by RetroRoadster, a non-announced delay in excess of four hours in returning the vehicle
will expose the client to charges of contract abuse and possibly vehicle theft.
In the event of a late return, the vehicle is subject to a penalty fee of € 320 per day. A day late is considered to start
once the vehicle is one hour late.
The client can return the vehicle at any time before the end of the rental period, provided it is during business open hours. No refund
can be made for early returns.
5. VEHICLE INSPECTION
The client is entrusted with a vehicle in a good mechanical and esthetic condition, with the exception of possible
damages noted at the time of the contract signature. Any observations and remarks must be made at the time of vehicle
pick-up and have been marked on the contract.
The client is responsible for returning the vehicle in the same condition as delivered to him. Any damages noted when the vehicle
is returned and not mentioned on the contract will be charged to the client, subject to the conditions listed in article 8.0.
In the case that the vehicle is returned outside open business hours, the vehicle inspection will be performed in the absence of the
client and it will have binding force as if he was present. He will however be informed of any findings so that he can in turn
submit his observations. The inspection will verify if:

A clean car, free of litter including in the boot; floors, doors and upholstery clean (no mud stains, no sand, no hair or
stains or cigarette burns) |

No tears and damage to the interior trim, upholstery and convertible top |
| |
A check of all fluid levels and correct vehicle operation, including the under the vehicle components |
| |
A exterior review for bodywork damage and scratches |
6. VEHICLE CARE AND USAGE
The client has complete operating and stationary responsibility for the vehicle, from the moment the vehicle
is picked-up and until it is contractually returned.
6.1 Responsibility
The client is responsible for the normal usage of the vehicle, conform to the usage intended by the manufacturer,
and with full respect for all civil and penal laws governing the vehicle operation and stationing.
The rented vehicles are maintained and have been restored to the original specifications. Nevertheless, the original vehicle
specifications can be quite far from "modern" standards. Consequently all drivers authorized by the rental contract
to operate the vehicle must accommodate their driving to respect the limitations inherent to a classic vehicle.
The contract titular is specifically prohibited to allow any drivers non-authorized by the rental contract to operate the vehicle.
Under no circumstances can RetroRoadster be held responsible for any consequence due to inappropriate operation of the vehicle,
regardless whether the correct and recommended way has been specified in an operating notice, explained at vehicle pick-up, or
imposed by the mechanical configuration of the vehicle.
6.2 Travel restriction to the French territory
No RetroRoadster vehicle is allowed to travel outside continental France. Any vehicle found to have left France will
immediately declared as stolen. In addition the rental contract specifies the departments where the vehicle can be driven.
If these limitations are not respected, the client is fully responsible for any and all charges resulting from damages to the
vehicle, recovery of the vehicle or lost rental revenue.
7. MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR
RetroRoadster supplies a vehicle in correct working condition and is responsible for all repairs and maintenance
due to normal vehicle usage. We will if necessary supply you with specific vehicle operating instructions.
The client is responsible for respecting these instructions. Additionally, he is responsible for all daily checks
necessary to for a correct and trouble-free vehicle operation.

During the rental period, the client is responsible for the vehicle maintenance, and especially for checking and maintaining
the correct tire pressure and the correct levels for the motor oil, coolant and brake fluid. |

The client will notify RetroRoadster any operating anomalies in order to establish of common accord the manner in which the problem
can be corrected and the conditions for continuing the rental. |
| |
Under no circumstances is the client allowed to intervene and initiate any repairs on the vehicle without the expressed and formal
prior agreement of RetroRoadster. |
| |
In the case of tire damage due to factors other than normal usage, the client is responsible for replacing the damaged tire with one of similar
make, size and characteristics. |

The client is to contact RetroRoadster about all unusual problems in order that we can advise him on how to proceed |
| |
The client will not wash the vehicle in any automatic car wash installations |
| |
He is also responsible for parking the vehicle at night in a closed and covered garage and for raising the convertible top during the night. |
All repair, part replacements or expenses resulting from unusual wear, from negligence, or accidental causes are the full responsibility
of the client, with the exception of the proof of a responsible third party. Do not hesitate to clarify any details before departure.
8. INSURANCE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
RetroRoadster has subscribed to an insurance policy covering the required civil responsibility for corporal and
property damages caused to any third parties. Under no circumstance are the personal belongings of the driver or passengers
covered by the RetroRoadster insurance policy.
8.1 Insurance conditions and deductibles
In the case of vehicle theft, fire and extensive damages to the vehicle, the client's responsibility is limited to:

the amount of the theft deductible or security deposit respectively, or |
| |
the amount of the repairs if it is less than the security deposit. |
In the case that RetroRoadster is being reimbursed by a responsible third party, we will in turn reimburse the client for the amount
of the damage deductible, less any charges that are his responsibility.
8.2 Exclusions
The client is fully responsible for the total amount of any repairs or for the full value of the vehicle in the following cases:

Vehicle operation by any drivers not specifically authorized by the rental contract |
| |
Voluntary damages, or damages resulting from a personal fault, from negligence or in the absence of any identified, responsible third parties, |
| |
Damages resulting from the improper estimation of the size and capacity of the rented vehicle |
| |
Damages incurred by any passengers transported against a fee |
| |
Damages resulting from driving under the influence of alcohol or as a result of any absorbed substances liable to alter the behavior and
reflexes needed for safe driving, |
| |
Damages to the interior of the vehicle, tires or any equipment, except when he can prove that they do not result from his negligence or fault |
| |
Damages due to the supplying with the wrong type of carburant (diesel instead of gasoline or "unleaded" when "leaded" gasoline is specified |
| |
Vehicle theft by any authorized driver or accomplices of the client |
| |
Damages incurred should the vehicle be returned after the contract expiration date. |
8.3 Incidents, Theft report, Fire or other damages
In the case of accidents, damages, fire (even partial) or vehicle theft, the client will assure himself that all
reasonable measures have been taken to assure the correct reporting and follow-up of the incident and the protection of all
incident clues and of the vehicle.

In the case of theft, he is responsible for making all appropriate declarations at the police or the Gendarmerie once the theft has
been discovered. |

In the case of an accident, the driver is responsible for completing an "Amicable Accident Report", even in the absence of an
identified third party |

He will immediately notify RetroRoadster, before the end of the rental period, and at the latest within 24 hours after the incident,
including on Sundays and holidays, with the exception of a provable impossibility. |
In the case of an accident, RetroRoadster reserves the right to estimate the damages and to propose the client a replacement depending on availability.
In the case of lost keys, the client will notify RetroRoadster and will be responsible for the cost of the keys, including overnight shipment of the replacement keys.
9. PRICE, RESERVATION, PAYMENT, SECURITY DEPOSIT
9.1 Price
All RetroRoadster services are billed and are payable in Euros. All rental services are subject to the Value-Added Tax (VAT) of
19,6 %, supplementary to the prices indicated on our site.
9.2 Reservation Deposit
We ask that you make a 25% payment deposit when you make your booking.
No reservation is considered confirmed until this payment has been received.
The credit card used for the reservation deposit must be the same card used to pay the reservation in full.
The reservation process cannot be completed and no vehicle will be allocated if the credit card is refused.
9.3 Payment
Payment in full is expected when the vehicle is picked up. For safety reasons we ask that the rental is
paid with a credit card. For your convenience, we accept both VISA and MASTERCARD. Debit cards will not be accepted
At the time of vehicle pick-up, the client is responsible for settling the following charges:

A 2000 Euro security deposit reserved, but not charged, on the client's credit card |

The total cost of the rental period calculated from the on-going rates applied to the period rented. |
The final settlement, calculated at the return of the vehicle will take into account all payments made at vehicle pick-up.
The rental is for time periods with well-defined departure and return hours. The client will benefit from one hour of late
return before late charges apply.
A security deposit in the amount of 2000 Euros will be retained (but not charged) at departure, against the credit card specified.
No vehicle can be allocated in the case of insufficient funding for the security deposit
The security deposit will be retained by RetroRoadster in lieu of charges for which the client is responsible, in the following cases:

Non-payment of rental charges |

Damages or loss of vehicle according to article 8 |
| |
Non-restitution of the vehicle, except in the case of documented impossibility and with prior accord from RetroRoadster. |
At the end of the rental period, any amounts due to RetroRoadster must be paid at the return of the vehicle.
In the case that payment is not received within 8 days after client notification, the client is responsible for paying in addition
to the full amount and interest on the principal, a late payment fee of 20% of the outstanding amount, in accordance with
the art.1229 of the Civil Code.
In the event that a balance is due in the favor of the client, RetroRoadster should settle the amount at the return of the vehicle,
or at the time of the emission of a bill. In the case that payment is not received within 8 days after due notification, the client can
be entitled to a late payment fee of 20% of the outstanding amount, in accordance with the provisions of the Civil Code.
At the time of your booking we ask you to provide details of the credit card that you wish to use for any
Supplementary Charges incurred during the rental.
Supplemental charges may be applied for the following:

If the term of the rental is extended or the vehicle is late |
| |
If there are damages to the vehicle (paint, body or interior) |
| |
A €20 refueling charge will be applied for every quart of a tank returned empty |
| |
A €50 charge will be applied if the vehicle requires professional cleaning before being rented again. |
In the case that supplementary charges are due, they will be charged to the card indicated at vehicle check-in.
10. IMMOBILISATION
The immobilization of the vehicle as a result of the infringement of the clauses stipulated in articles 6.7.8.9. of the
present contract, results in the billing of the client for the days the vehicle has been out of service, not exceeding 30
days. The basis for this calculation is the daily vehicle rental rate.
11. RENTAL CONTRACT, MODIFICATIONS, PROLONGATIONS, CANCELLATION
The rental agreement is entered in for a specific time period, indicated on the rental contract. In the case that the
vehicle is not returned at the agreed-upon date, and in the absence of an extension agreement, RetroRoadster reserves
the right to recover the vehicle from any and all places where it could be located at the expense of the client.
In this situation, it is understood that RetroRoadster is in full right and the client cannot claim an abusive
breach of contract
11.1 Modifications to a reservation:
Before departure you can modify the following elements of a reservation:

In General:

If the term of the rental is extended, the current price will be charged for the additional days/periods. |
| |
If the cost of the new booking is greater than the cost of the old booking, (different vehicle or time period)
the amount charged will be the difference. |

Changed bookings are subject to availability. |
| |
An administrative fee of €20 will be charged for every change to dates and drivers which you make to your booking less than 30 days before rental. |
All modifications are subject to price reevaluation and vehicle availability. Please advise us at the earliest convenience about desired changes.
11.2- Rental extensions
The client is responsible of notifying RetroRoadster by phone of any desired extensions to the rental period
before the vehicle due-date. He should cover the cost of the extension at the same time.
RetroRoadster reserves the right to refuse any extensions to the rental period. Should the extension be refused, the client is
responsible for the return of the vehicle at the original due date.
11.3- Early return
You are free to return the vehicle any time prior to the due date, provided it is done during normal business hours.
However, no refund will be made for an early return
RetroRoadster reserves the right to unilaterally and unequivocally end the contract, without any obligation for a refund,
if the client is found to not be respecting the clauses of the present contract, and especially those governing the use of the
vehicle, the payment terms or the vehicle return conditions.
11.4- Client no-show
No refunds can be made if the client is not present for vehicle pick-up at the start of the rental period.
The reservation cannot be transferred to a later date.
11.5 Cancellation
All confirmed reservations will be subject to a cancellation fee of 10% of the total rental cost.
If the reservation is cancelled less than 30 days before the start date the cancellation fee is of 25% of
the rental cost.
12. DRIVING LAWS
The client and all agreed-upon drivers are fully responsible for all tickets and penalties incurred during the rental period.
They are responsible for reimbursing RetroRoadster any charges resulting from non-respect of the driving laws, including towing
and storage charges should the vehicle be impounded.
13. VEHICLE DOCUMENTS
The vehicle is delivered with all his documents, equipment and accessories in compliance with the laws in France
If the totality of these documents and equipment, as well as the vehicle keys are not returned at the end of the
rental period, the rental charges will continue to apply until the client can justify of an official loss report.
In any case the entire cost of replacing or repairing missing or damaged components is entirely his responsibility.
14. JURISDICTION
It is expressedly agreed upon, barring regulations stipulating otherwise, that all complaints, disputes and disagreements resulting
from the present contract will be judged and submitted only to the Tribunal de Commerce de Versailles where RetroRoadster is registered.
The conditions mentioned in the present contract have a binding character. The client has read and accepted the above conditions
and has indicated his agreement, by signing the contract.
